How to Make a Rock Sculpture
This is a take on a project that we’ve done in Messy Makers where we’ve made sculptures using styrofoam as the base. This time we’re using rocks! All you need are:
-1 Medium Size Rock
-Pipe Cleaners
-Crafty materials to add to the sculpture. I use pom poms, foam pieces, feathers and colored pasta (you can purchase colored pasta or make your own, which is what I do.

First, wrap and twist the pipe cleaner around the rock, allowing the long ends to stick up.
Next, decorate the pipe cleaners with your crafty materials. Wrap a pipe cleaner around a pom pom or a feather. Thread a pipe cleaner through a piece of colorful pasta.
For the foam shapes, if the artist is a very young child (ages 3 or younger) an adult needs to take a pen or a pencil and poke a hole in the middle of the shape. My 5 year old was able to do it herself once I showed her how. Then the artist can thread the foam through the pipe cleaner.

And that’s it! You’ve made a Rock Sculpture! Yay!
